Francisco Gothe is the godfather of southern Costa Rica, a human monster whose real estate and resort holdings front the world's biggest illegal antiquities smuggling business. He's built an empire desecrating sacred bruial grounds with slave labor, leaving a trail of blood and murder in his wake. Ruthless and cold-blooded, he's got the right people in law and government on his payroll and considers himself untouchable. Mack Bolan considers Gothe a dead man. But first, he's going undercover as one of Gothe's enforcers, to run interference on the kingpin's biggest deal - joining forces with one of Central America's most powerful drug smugglers. In a land where cocaine is king, and corruption and murder are the cost of doing business, the Executioner knows bankruptcy is best declared with a well-aimed bullet.

Didn't really do a lot for me this title where I found myself just plodding along while reading it. The main dislike I have with this one is it is just the same over and over again. The undercover agent that the Big Guy is teamed up with is good and I was thinking that this is really going to go somewhere but when they get on the boat transporting the drugs they just shoot all of the bad guys. Whilst that is not so bad they then confront the bad guys who are going to pick up the cargo of drugs and well just shoot all of them again. Off to the main bad guys compound where he is just finalising the sale of his business interests prior to retiring and yep some okay scenes here but a little to late I'm thinking. This author has written many titles better than this one.

Another excellent Executioner novel from Jerry VanCook. I found this book entertaining from the first to last page, and never once got bored. I thought the character of the undercover cop was well-developed, and the protagonist believable. I do get a little tired of endings where Mack promises not to kill the bad guy and then someone else kills him, but that is an extremely minor complaint.

A pretty entertainig read. I like the bad guy Gothe, his underlings were a little weak. Lima seemed a little too dumb. I liked the sidekick undercover agent, great undercover agent but a bad shot. Though he seemed to do pretty good. Story moved along real nice, but the countdown of how many bad guys kinda drew me outta it, Mack kills like what 60 guys in the last 50 pages ? It kinda harkened back to the old days, big crime boss - he's not bent on hell on earth, just a fat greedy old Mobster, one step away from retirement, who's years of crime are gonna come back to haunt him when he meets up with the man in black. Eh Kay says Check it out !

Of all the Bolans I've read, Hostile Alliance is without a doubt my favourite. Excellent villains with no silly plans, sexy broads all over, and Mack handing out lead like it's Halloween candy. The mob boss' death was perfect, especially considering all he'd done to that girl/her mother. Mack's ally being kind of a poor shot also worked out, too bad Mack himself was written as a semi-superman (the scene on the boat and on the hovercraft are perfect examples). All in all a great book, well worth picking up for anyone not looking for conspiracy/world domination plots.

While this one moved very slow in the action department, it was saved by a lot of suspense. Which usually means it was an undercover book. He and the cop, Pacheco made a good team, even though one of them was not the most proficient with firearms. In the last quarter of the book, the action heated up with some very good shootouts. And the villain was one of the more dispicable types, which is always nice to see as his empire crumbles around him.

Tenner on my scale of highly entertaining read. No megalomanic plans for world dominaton nor destruction and no absurd über villain (even thought some times those are good thing in bolan novel). Knife action is allways nice and action on board hovercraft was sweet as well as very visual. Jaime Pancheo was good supporting character and he was one of those rare characters (beside most of the villains in whole series) that was not very handy with gun. Ending of book left feeling of justice being served and served well.
