The chase leads to the Soviet science center of Academgorodok, a city in eastern Siberia populated by the best brains in the country. The Phantom 6/10 January 18, 2019
The second adventure is more action packed from cover to cover. Once again there is an edge of your seat conclusion to deal with the bomb in the final pages. This time there is a little twist, making it more dangerous. Overall though, I didn't think this book was as well written as the first volume. The action never seemed to let up, but too often the plot was sketchy, and I wasn't picturing what was going on very well in some of the action scenes. There are enough good moments to make the book worth reading, for example the main villain's mastery of disguises, but even here the believability was stretched too far as he seemed to take command of military personnel with ease wherever on the planet he happened to be. As far as pulp action adventure goes, this is an ok read, especially if you are a gun nut as the author was. I like the idea of the main villain staying alive over a multiple book story arc like the first three books in this series. The next book starts where this one leaves off.
