Dagger is Christian Daguerre who, despite his youth, is already a veteran war correspondent. His Mexican vacation has just been transformed into a living nightmare of butchery, and his explosive reaction to the carnage leads him straight into a worldwide conspiracy of killers. Dagger is a streetwise civilian warrior who does not fear his enemies. Beneath the blazing blue skies of Mazatlan, Baja and Los Angeles, he launches a one man assault against those who killed his wife-to-be, and there will be no pause until her death is righteously avenged!

Introducing Christian Tulsa Daguerre a top notch journalist for ..... ( bugger that I want to read some action adventure here not about some crap reporter I hear) well settle down and read a little bit more of this. Veteran Vietnam reporter who sneaked into a rescue squad going after POW's parachuted into enemy territory and ended up pulling three guys out of the camp by himself when most of the rescue squad were killed. Completed special forces training with the Green Berets where the commanding officer considered him to be one of the finest soldiers he had ever seen. Personally trained in small arms and combat completed more military training than a dozen soldiers. Oh yeah this guy is good as you will soon read at the start of the title when he comes across an assassin waiting in secret in his hotel room to kill him. Excellent storyline relating to a PLO terrorist leader who was responsible for the killing of Daquerre's one time true love popping up in Mexico with a devious plot to inflict massive casualties on American citizens and how Daquerre tracks him down. Lots of good characters introduced supporting the title culminating in a very climatic ending where the hero takes his lumps as well big time. Good epilogue added on finishes off the title nicely. I loved it highly recommended.

This is a nice change of pace from the other usual Gold Eagle books. Dagger is devoid of a lot of the usual military terms and flavour; your are following the escapades of a war reporter with "some" military training, but nothing like Mack. Also, this guy has a sense of humor, he is not intense like Mack. He's not a loner, he has family and friends. The action is good and well paced. Not as many shoot em ups, but there is more tension 'cause Dagger is not a killing machine. Not a bad book; wonder why there weren't more?

I was surprised how good this book turned out to be. A very entertaining, fun story by the writer of a few Bolan books. A good mixture of action, adventure, humor, and suspense make this an enjoyable read. I like the characters in here, especially the hero, Christian Daguerre, who isn't out to be any hero at all, but circumstances bring him from a normal life into a world of villains and he deals with the scum pretty damn good. This book is a gem in the pile of also rans in the used bookstore racks, pick it up if you see it.
