PIRATES OF FREEDOM Rule the sea. For centuries a Chinese secret society has terrorized Southeast Asia. Now the Red Vengeance stalks a new hunting ground, and the wave of crime builds to a new peak. The society's targets are refugee ships, yachts and tramp steamers, where the men are tortured and murdered and the women kidnapped and sold into slavery. But a rogue wave of fury sweeps across the Gulf of Thailand when Nile Barrabas and his SOBs decide that their own brand of vengeance is the better part of valor.

The book opens with explosive action in the China sea with the SOBs coming to the rescue of a tourist ship that has been taken over by pirates. That's right, pirates! This is the theme for this adventure, which takes place in Thailand and the waters off the coast of it. The SOBs have to deal with failure in this story, where several efforts have limited success and the main villain gets away. Bishop and Nanos get into it with each other and the gang needs to regroup and plan ahead to deal with the pirates. These pirates are as vicious as it gets, and the victims keep adding up. The sick rituals in the pirate parties are about as gut wrenching as anything I've ever read. The captive women seem helpless, but the tables get turned, you have to read to see what happens. This is a great story of heroes taking on the nastiest of villains. Bishop's helicopter skills are put to the test, if you like helicopter action, there is plenty of that here. A hardcore action yarn from start to finish, while having plenty of room for story development, this is one of the best yet in the series. O'Toole is out for this mission, likely recovering his wounds from book 13, and Barrabas once again shows terrific leadership of this squad. Great reading, don't miss out on it!

Set in South East Asia namely the Gulf of Thailand this time around the SOB's are on the trail of pirates who are running amok and pleasing themselves on any shipping in the area with a focus on Vietnamese refugees trying to escape their war torn homeland for some sort of a better life. The opening of the title finds the SOB's paddling a raft about to storm a liner which has been captured by these terrorists and held captive to release the hostages and bring the Pirates to justice. Unfortunately it is very hard to save anyone who was killed days ago and is currently rotting in the place that they were killed and to really annoy Barrabas and his team the bad guys escape from the liner without being caught. Some good reading here where the Team attempts to locate the Pirates through an arrangement with the Thai Military and a borrowed Huey helicopter with no success and the politics which enter the equation to eventually stop their efforts. Excellent ending where the SOB's have in fact nicked off in the stolen helicopter now fully armed and with information on where the Pirates home base is actually located. Now the Pirates in this title have a peculiar ceremony and ritual they enjoy and I challenge anyone who reads this title not to cringe when reading the authors detailed description of same. Another excellent read in the series and recommended reading yet again.

Brutal violence is the main attraction in this entry, as pirates show no mercy. But, still, good action with the SOB's tracking down the modern day scum.
