URBAN WARFARE ERUPTS At the core of the Big Apple as a warehouse of lethally unstable explosives is ransacked by Iranian terrorists. It is all part of a grim conspiracy formulated in the boardroom of a shadowy U.S. organization called the Liberty Tribune. As a deadly day of reckoning draws near, the SOBs must bring their savage brand of justice to the streets of New-York City to prevent the fiery destruction of the American system. And for Nile Barrabas it is the opportunity to avenge a monstrous wrong committed in the jungles of Vietnam and pay back a decades-old debt in blood.

This story mixes Barrabas's mission with flashbacks from his past in Vietnam. The first book in the series introduced the background story in his Vietnam days, and characters from that are featured in No Safe Place. This is a personal mission for Barrabas, and his crew gets involved later in the story. The General who is the main villain in this book has a crazy plot that is revealed later, and a fellow soldier from the Vietnam days gets a role in this adventure. This was an interesting character, and even Jessup was connected to the same backstory in Vietnam. Taking place in the Manhattan area, the setting was contained to a small area, mostly among the cityscape around the world trade center, set in the 80's. I thought maybe there was going to be a lot of urban warfare action for this novel, but this really isn't much about that. While I was a little disappointed, however what this story does focus on is a unique and compelling narrative that had me interested throughout. The author weaves Barrabas's personal perspective into the storyline while his SOBs don't really know what his agenda is, but they trust him and play important roles in the mission. I liked the ending scenes at the world trade center towers, everything coming down to a good conclusion to this book that is another well done adventure from Hardy. These books don't always stick to a strict formula, which makes for a better reading experience, and that is one of the best aspects of a story like this one.

Yet another good read in the series with this title which features one of the best plots to date where a group plot to take down Wall Street throwing the American financial sector and dollar into a free fall causing the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs and the American way of life. One of the bad guys is another characters from Barrabas's past and this title features some nice flash back sequences to what happened involving the two in Vietnam during the conflict there. The title works up to a nice climax which will certainly keep you interested and finishes off nicely with the bad guy's getting theirs. Once again recommended reading in this series here.

One of the few times that the SOB's were in the urban jungle. This turned out pretty well, with a good amount of action.
