The pristine white beaches of a resort paradise in the Indian Ocean are now spattered with blood, courtesy of the coup that has ousted playboy king Jamal Daoud. The new ruler is a tyrant-in-training who supports his claim to power with an army of licensed killers. The island chain is strategically vital to the United States, which wants Daoud back in power. Ex-Special Forces Colonel Nile Barrabas and his crack team of mercenaries are enlisted to spearhead a countercoup. After covertly assessing the enemy's strength and recruiting island rebels, the SOBs stoke the fires under the caldron of war. In the heat of the jungle fury, Nile Barrabas goes up against an old nemesis who vows to put a dead-certain stop to his military career.

A much better effort for this writer taking place on some island nation in the Indian ocean. The plot is not really unique, but the writing is where this book shines. Action in every chapter, excellent scenes depicting the villains as well as the SOBs, and a ramping up of the battle between the islanders and the invaders that have taken over the islands. Dargient emerged as the main villain, and he has some crazy scenes. The action on the boats were good as well as the ones on land. The SOBs were involved from the start, rather than being slowly introduced as most books do. I liked Hayes having the undercover role in the hotel, Nanos does something insane with the king's ship. Lots to like in this book from cover to cover. I enjoyed this book and it is far better than the previous two novels in the series, now just one more book left after this, at least for the regular numbered ones.

Very good read in the series with this title. A coup orchestrated by the half brother of the King ousts the ruler and the evil half brother takes over with the assistance of a bunch of Mercs from France and Africa. The United States NSA who were close to securing an agreement with the King for a listening post to be established on the islands are pissed and wants to return the King to power so Barrabas and his SOB's are engaged to spearhead a counter coup to make that happen. Fine reading where the SOB's go about their tasks to return the King to power. Some excellent characters are introduced here and there are some very good action scenes to read especially the ending sections. Certainly one to recommend in the series.
