Deep in the Ozarks, a CIA team is holding a "walk-in" Soviet scientist in protective custody. After a brutal firefight, the scientist is kidnapped by unknown assailants. Determined to retrieve the Russian defector who is the mastermind behind the Icefort project- the USSR's most advanced space installation- Washington turns to Colonel Nile Barrabas. The trail leads to Scotland, where Barrabas discovers an American industrialist backing a plot that would give the top-secret Star Wars defense program to the Russians. But when they are ready to move in for the kill Barrabas and his commando squad suddenly find their cover blown, and all signs point to a mole deep inside the U.S. government!

The final installment of the regular series here and thank goodness it is among the better books in the series. I wanted to give this book the highest grade, but I thought the writing wasn't as tight in the last third of the story compared to the first half.  A captured Soviet scientist has Barrabas and his crew on a mission to get him back, and what follows is a pretty good action thriller taking the reader to then divided Berlin, then on to Scotland. My favorite part of the book was the action in Berlin as they brought out the spy living in East Berlin. Things shifted gears when the Scotland end of things became center stage, getting closer to the captured scientist. A fair amount of decent action at the conclusion to tie up all loose ends and we have one banger of a book. There is one other large size SOBs adventure published after this, but other than that this is the end of the line for this series. And what a heck of a line of books it was, I am very glad I got into this series, I highly recommend it.

Wow the last title in the series talk about leaving the best to last the only other title in the series that came close to this one was #6 Red Hammer Down which was a cracker and so is this one. A Russian scientist has defected who happens to be the mastermind of an advanced space installation being constructed by the Russians that is going to thwart the American Star Wars project. Not having a bar of that the Russians with the assistance of a billionaire American sympathiser and a bunch of mercs promptly kidnap him back with the intention of sending him back to get on with his work. The American NSA spits the dummy and engage the Fixer to locate and kidnap the said scientist back again and off we go. Excellent title where a mole unknown to Barrabas and his SOB's has flagged their engagement and plans from the start and the bad guys have all of the Aces up their sleeves. Heaps of good characters introduced and an abundance of action scenes make this title just so easy and exciting to read. The ending is some of the best stuff to be read in the whole series and the finish when the mole is uncovered well you just have to read it for yourself. HIGHLY recommended title in the series one of the two few where do yourself a favour and read it. Only three of the Super sized titles to go in the series if they are any where near as good as this I will be a happy chappy let you know.
