The murder of the king of Saudi Arabia turns the entire Gulf area into a powder keg. Officially the U.S. government's hands are tied. Unofficially the President wants to know who's behind the assassination - and he wants the killer terminated. With only an inexperienced Arab CIA operative as backup, Mack Bolan moves into the heart of the desert and uncovers an Islamic conspiracy. But the sophisticated firepower of the Rashidi tells the Executioner there's big power backing the hated family. Targeted for death and running out of time, Bolan must tunnel to the source of that power and switch it off before America's sworn enemies in Iran strike a final blow in the Middle East.

A one and only entry into this series by this author who incidently wrote two of the titles in the SOB's excellent series. Unfortunately the two titles he wrote in that series I rated as ordinary and I would have to say that this title is much the same in this series. I would say that right from the start of this one I had little interest as the subject matter for the plot did nothing for me and really the title just plods along with little sense of direction. The amount of different places the Big Guy travels to in this title must be a record as is the number of times he calls home to talk to Brognola which seemed like every couple of pages. As has been mentioned the plane crash scene is straining the credibility where he walks away without a scratch and then we have yet another crash this time with Jack at the controls. Every time an ally was required up pops up someone who is perfect for the job with the right background and ready and willing to join in his crusade. Not one to recommend here I am afraid in this series.

A good book overall, I would have givin it a 7 star, but the part where Bolan survives a plane crash with hardly a scratch made my jaw drop and go HUH?? Bolan isn,t Clark Kent the last time I knew. But the story is full of action and had a good ending i thought.

Bolan invades Saudi Arabia to protect US interest and to defeat a planned Russian coup in this so-so novel. With the help of some Arabian friends and his old buddy Grimaldi, Bolan saves the day. Writing is not bad, but far from the best in the series. Nice to see Bolan and his allies catching fire, but this one seemed over-the-top. One ally dies, and Grimaldi ends up leaking like a sieve by the end of this one. Also, very hard to follow without a map of the Arabian peninsula in front of you. Bolan crosses the country at least twice to put an end to the coup. The novel also loses points due to some unbelievable incidents that occur. Bolan survives being shot down twice. His Cessna outflies F-16s regularly. No way. There are better reads out there. This one can safely be skipped.
