Deadly contamination. The badlands of North Dakota become a war zone when a former Pentagon researcher stumbles across a Chinese terrorist plot to unleash deadly prions into the country's largest supply of cattle feed. With America's food chain and the lives of millions in jeopardy, Mack Bolan knows he must shut down the organization- and it has to happen fast. <br /> But with the local authorities on the enemy's payroll, and an army of mercenaries tracking his every move, there's no safe place for Bolan. Heavy fire power alone will not win this fight- Bolan must rely on his battle instincts if he's going to prevent tragedy. The Executioner will risk everything to succeed... because if he fails, the United States may never recover.

This is an excellent read from one of the new authors on the scene with a very original refreshing plot that would have a devastating effect on the US food chain if it came to completion. Chinese terrorists are attempting to insert a manipulated Mad Cow disease bacteria into the US system for grain feeding their cattle stocks which will result in the disease being passed on to consumers and the eventual downfall of the entire meat industry. Enter the Big Guy and enter into a very fast paced action packed title in the series where you don't get much of a chance to take a breath when it is off again into yet another very readable scene. Lots of good characters introduced here amongst which are a couple of cousins and they feature in a scene in one of their houses and a couple of dead bodies which I reckon is probably one of the funniest scenes I have read in these combined series certainly worth the read by itself. Excellent finish which I am sure will leave you more than satisfied if you give this one a go. Well done to the author he has produced one of the better titles released in these series and a highly recommended read from me.

My first read of one of Holmstrom's books, and it was a solid effort. It had one of those plots that you figure could happen, with a Chinese-backed plot to cripple the U.S. economy. Bolan is the hunter and the hunted as he and a female vet take on Ag Con and their mercenary minions all across the badlands of North Dakota. The battles were plentiful as Bolan and his lady ally try to outrun and outsmart the mercs. Plus, Bolan is in lone-wolf kill-mode towards the end, desperately trying to stop the prions from being shipped out. What took one star away was the shootouts didn't seem as cohesive as I would have liked, but for my first time with a new writer, it was a good job overall.

This was -- by far -- one of my favorite reads from the recently published books. This, along with Power Burn (#387), lay-out what the current writers should focus on. It was a believable plot, a myriad of well-written characters, and several very-well written action sequences. When the U.S. food supply is in jeopardy by a well-hidden plot, only the Executioner is able to derail the plans of a group of terrorists. The cat & mouse chase near the end of the book, with a seemingly comparable war veteran, is one of my favorite scenes in the later series. Any action book reader would enjoy this one! I'd go 9.5 if given the option ...
