Freedom fighters. When California's Mojave Desert becomes the training ground for a homegrown militia group with a deadly scheme to "take back" America, Mack Bolan is sent in to unleash his own form of destruction. But first he'll have to infiltrate the unit and unravel their plot before it's too late. With less than forty -eight hours to go, the stakes have suddenly been raised and millions of Americans are about to be caught in the cross fire of a terrorist attack. As the militia sets its plan in motion, Bolan has only one opportunity to strike back and shut them down forever. Timing will be tight, but if these right-wing extremists want a war, then the Executioner is there to oblige.

Well unfortunately here we go again with this author as he really didn't want to place a lot of thought into this title so a quick fix is to republish sections which he has done so many times before for a quick buck. A Militia group is apparently about to launch a devastating attack on the US Government so the Big Guy must of course stop this but how? What about if we stage a bar fight in which the leaders of the said Militia group are getting hammered in this case by bikers (DEA agents undercover) and the Big Guy can wade in save the day and be welcomed into the group with open arms as their saviour three days before their fantastic plot is about to take place. Works for me as it obviously did for the author as it has so MANY times before. Add in the prerequisite female ally who really doesn't do all that much until one of the group discovers her and visits her home but the author resists the urge for her to be kidnapped and held hostage which was a pleasant surprise one star added. The title plods along to a thankful ending where once again a sniper scene is inserted to fill some more space. Been there done that and read it all before very disappointing.

This was a solid piece and very entertaining. Mike Newton did a great job of developing and early plot and carrying it on through to the end. Unlike some of the recent Executioners, this wasn't a mere "shoot 'em up" throughout. Rather, Newton developed a storyline that incorporated Bolan, an ATF agent, and two militia groups that made for a great book. It was very fun watching Bolan use these militia groups as pawns, reminiscent of the mafia days, in his plan to derail a potential national tragedy. This book had well-timed out action sequences and a great scene when the Executioner give a training lesson to weekend warriors. All-in-all, this was an enjoyable book.

The story was timely and the threat posed realistic. The villians were interesting. Mack was great in this book and the story line with the ATF agent was fun. The action was well written. All around a great book.
