OK so I'm only a few pages in and I'm thinking deja vu. Just read the section where AT get hassled by customs getting off the palne in Nicarauga. I'm thinking wow I must have already read this book and just screwed up by picking up the same book twice. Then I read the reviews and lo and behold I'm not the only one. Even the same insults towards a custom officer by Swartz is word for word repeated, and we all know a guy with that much comic genius would never use the same line twice. I agree with the one review of if an author has to use the exact same material twice he should be working at McDonalds or Walmart. Gold Eagle I think you got ripped off on this one as well as all us loyal readers.

I did not care for this book. The plot was quite forgettable, and was buried under so much action that I found myself getting bored with the firefights. If ever there was a case of "action-porn," this is it. There are only so many ways to describe someone getting shot before it starts to all run together. Same thing with too many graphic sex scenes in a romance novel; hence, my "action-porn" description. And the thing that really annoys me about this is that I usually love the books where our heroes don't skate by unscathed. But even giving our heroes a good ass-kicking isn't enough to save this book! That's very sad! I see other reviews claiming this is very similar to another book Nathan Meyer wrote. I can't speak to this; if true, I've not read the original book. Still, even without that mark against it, this book just doesn't measure up to my standards of a good Stony Man novel--or a good novel in general. It took me two attempts to get through, and the only reason I even gave it a second chance was because of my affore-mentioned love for books where our heroes get hurt. It just kept nagging at me. As it turns out, unfortunately, I needn't have bothered. The book wasn't any better upon completion.

Thanks for confirming what I had noticed. I started reading late last night and when I got mid-way throught the book and McCarter took a hit while getting into the copter, I thought "mmmm, haven't we've been here before?" At that point I started flipping ahead and when the rescuer replied "Glad your check cleared in time" I called it a night. Seriously, if you need to recycle that much of your own material, stop writing and get a job at McDonalds. Gold Eagle, I will be returning this book. I refuse to pay for something I already own.

AS I READ THIS BOOK IN THE MIDDLE OF IT THE SAME AS ONE OF ONE I READ BEFORE BUT THE END IS NOT THE SAME AS THE OTHER ONE. OTHER WISE IT WAS GOOD

As a stand alone book this would have been pretty good- good action and some real good dialogue. However, there are large sections espicially towards the end that are taken almost word for word from the authors previous Stony Man title High Assault. In fact a lot of the plot was the same he just changed the locations.
