even U.S. Citizens are abducted at gunpoint in Paris by an organization calling itself the Armenian People's Struggle. Mack Bolan is dispatched to France on a rescue mission with his only lead the terrorist believed to be the brains behind the atrocity. Plagued by the bad attitiude of local officials, possible leaks, and unreliable intel, Bolan begins his search in the dark maze of the Armenian underground- meeting bloody resistance at every turn. The terrorists may have an ax to grind, but when American lives are on the line, Bolan has a bigger ax. That's why he's the Executioner.

I forgot to review this book when I finished reading it. In fact, I forgot about it as soon as I had finished it. There was nothing memorable about it and I have even forgotten the characters names a week later. The location was mainly Paris, but could easily have been any generic city. The People's Liberation Front of Armenia (or something) has kidnapped a group of rich, obnoxious Americans because....reasons. Then there is a sub plot of the Front for People's Liberation of Armenia also wanting to kidnap the kidnapped because...reasons...although the leader of the FPLA (I am making these names up) wants to keep the $20 million for himself. Nobody seems unduly worried that obnoxious Americans have been kidnapped, only one French police officer seems to have been assigned the case. Enter Mack Bolan. For some reason Bolan just shows up and takes command. No reason is given as to why he is there, no mention of Brognola or Stony Man Farm any where in the novel. Bolan just appears. And then proceeds to blunder his way around, going from one meaningless gunfight to another. And then the novel just finishes. I am sure there would be other things about the novel, but I seriously have surprised myself by remembering so much already. I do like the title thou.

Ordinary. Very weak wishy washy plot of Bolan trying to recover hostages being held. I thought this plot would have been done to death by now but no another title comes along like this. Not one I would recommend. my two bobs worth........

The strength of this novel lies with the suspensful action scenes and I liked the ending of the book even though the last page seems like it was chopped off, I thought an epilogue would have helped this novel. Bolan's mission is to rescue hostages from a group called Armenian Peoples Struggle. This group was not fleshed out very well, and I thought lacking background info concerning Anna's past with her father and his reasons for being killed by the main villain Haroun. The shift to Haroun from the original villain at the beginning of the novel, Hampirian, the guy shown on the cover, was odd, and it almost seemed like the author didn't know what to do with the Hampirian character, and came up with a better villain later. Some action scenes, although good, seemed like they were rehashed from other similar scenes in the novel. Some things about the story were strange, like why the hostages were split up in different places was not explained, and it seemed like many of Bolan's actions added up to little gain through the bulk of the book. The action takes place in and around Paris, and Bolan has a couple good allies that added a good dimension to the book, the perspectives from the bad guys were written well, and overall I was pleased with the author's last entry in the series, even if it was far from perfect. It is a very fast read, the pacing was solid, and would have rated it higher if it had some polishing in a few aspects of the story, in conclusion a six is my grade.

This book was a fast paced one with a simple yet entertaining plot where Bolan has enemies in every corner and his allies often rather questionable and even seem untrustworthy. The book seemed to be a promising one but it lacked some "punch" along the way to make it a great one. (2003)

Bolan is in Paris, trying to rescue some kidnapped Americans. Blechh. Another awful book by McDade. It has more of Bolan running around playing spy and less Executioner action. Bolan is clueless in "Deadly Force", wandering around Paris with his allies being shot at. He doesn't know who his friends are. He doesn't know who his enemies are. He just returns fire at those who shoot at him and plods along. Even the action scenes are bad. A shootout in a pitch black room with Bolan throwing paintbrushes around is a new low for the series. If "Fastburn" weren't *SO* terrible, I would give this one 1 star also, but I am reserving that for only the most craptacular Bolan's. This is very close.

Not one of the better books in the series. The plot was kinda lame.
