Well I guess I am the odd one out as far as reviewers go.
This is crap pure and simple.
The Mack Bolan character created through the book series lives on and in my opinion cannot be moved to the comic book genre.
The books in the series detail weapons used within the title and also background on Bolan himself and his thoughts and ideas during missions and I don't believe it is possible to transfer these to the comic book format.
I was very dissappointed in this.
my two bobs worth........
I found this book in my local comic shop when I was bored one day. It looked like just about any other action packed book I have seen. If you have read my reviews you would know that I am also a huge fan of the Punisher by Marvel Comics. So when I discovered that this was the inspiration for the Punisher, I flipped out!!! I started buying up as many books as I could find and I was reading like a madman. I am glad that there is something this cool out there now on the market.
I won the three Executioner comics in an ebay auction about a week ago and jus recieved them. I couldnt wait to read them through and through, Not only did the comics stand up to the accuracy of Mack's war but they increased my love for the Executioner collection of books ten-fold.
I'd long hoped for an Executioner comic, and it was great to see Don and Linda Pendleton scripting their own series, and getting the excellent workmanship of Sandu Florea on the book.
Florea's art is very 70's style, reminiscent of Gene Colan, and full of detail and interesting points of view. Also, most comic book adaptations skip over important scenes, but Don and Linda, in their scripting, managed to pace the first three issues just right.
I enjoyed this comic book throughly and wished that they had not of cancelled it. Perhaps one day the Mack Bolan series will get the rights that they so rightfully deserve. For those of you who don't have a great imagination this will bring it through in all of its colour and glory. Buy this comic book but first get a hold of the Mack Bolan series and then you will understand what I'm talking about.
This is an outstanding comic book. The art is excellent and it definately has the "Pendelton feel". It's an adaptation of the War on the Mafia, so it gives the reader a good intro to the charachter. This book is not easy to find, but there are a number of online sources where it is available and reasonably priced. It's worth picking up.
I think that the mack bolan series is the best series i have ever read ... If you haven't ever read a mack bolan book you should go and buy one right now...
The image posted here is actually one of at least two different covers...but the content is still the same. Again, Florea's work is excellent, and the scripting from Don and Linda is...well, WOW!! Again, worth checking out.
I found this comic to be very fun. I liked how it was definitely based on the Pendleton Bolan. They didn't try to make it modern or anything. Only wish it was longer.
