First a power surge at Diablo Canyon, then worldwide accidents at nuclear stations result in lost lives. In California, antinuclear demonstrations by environmentalists threaten sabotage and violent civil unrest. The Stony Man teams probe the surge of accidents, uncovering an explosive combination - a Red Chinese satellite, a New Age politician and a race to control a new power source. But even as the field teams close in on their quarry, a satellite orbiting in space targets a major American nuclear plant.

Poor effort here I reckon. The plot is well hmm okay I guess with the main villan a spineless politician being controlled by the Cali drug cartel who is building solar electricity generating plants to supply clean and green electricity to the masses. Now if you were doing this it would make sense for all of the nuclear power stations throughout the world to be banned think of the opportunities? How to do this? What about launching a satellite with a laser cannon and whack a few nuclear power plants causing problems coupled with a militant green organization to cause mayhem at protest rally's. Well I have already said it is ordinary. The absolute standout in this title is the infiltration of the Sunflash base and the subsequent destruction of it. How they do it, how it happens and what backfires on the Teams is very good reading sadly the rest of the title was pretty ordinary for me. Not one I could reccommend here with many other titles in this series vastly better reads indeed many other titles by this author.

This story didn't hold my interest at all. The problem that I had with it came quite early in the novel, during Brognola's briefing of the Stony Man crew. The dialogue went something like: "Somebody is blowing up nuclear power stations. You have to find out who it is and stop it. This is your target. Yes, the politican wannabe in California. No it is him, we are certain of it. Why are we certain? We don't know really, just a feeling and the fact that the President doesn't like him. No, I don't want you to look elsewhere for villains, this man is guilty. Guilty I tell you. We want you to concentrate all of the firepower on this target and nobody else. Any questions?" Luckily this target is the bad guy, but I was left wondering what would have happened if Brognola's intel was wrong. On the plus side is was fun to see Bolan + PF + AT all working together on one attack, even if AT were left at sea for the majority of fight. I also liked the Columbian hitman since he had the most depth of all of the bad guys. Gadgets was supposed to have fallen in love with one of the Green Shirt activists during the mission, and when she is wounded and crippled during a staged anti nuclear protest he swears revenge. Unfortunately it seemed so shallow and I wasn't drawn in to Gadget's request. Carl Lyons also seemed out of character during all of this. When Gadgets states that he is out for blood, the Ironman just shrugs and lets Gadgets get on with it. This just didn't seem right. So all in all an average SM story.

Enjoyable romp which features mostly Able Team and Mack Bolan for a change. The action scenes were well written, especially the attack on the Sunflash complex with all the Stony Men.

Its really a super able team book though as much of the story focused on them. A decent read except that the author MUST own some stock in a nuclear powerplant some where. Through out the whole book he paints nuclear power plant protesters as a bunch brainless twits. He also goes into trying to sell the readers that the use of nuke power is worth the risk to the enviroment because its so cheap and that with out them we would be all living in caves or something.

Just finished Sunflash. The plot was unique. The enemies in this one aren't the deadly serious killers that everyone expects. They are enviromental activists who are tricked to defending the enviroment using violence. Kind of weird huh? Well the plot gets better. This book is unlike the other ones because about half the book the commandos are on R&R. And you get a little glimpse into what the guys do when it's time to take a breather. Anyways I like this one because it has Schwarz and Bolan teaming up at the end. Those are my two favorite characters so this one is a title that I like a little bit more than the others. Also Able Team is in it a lot.

This was a great Stony Man novel, because hey, my two favorite ever Stony Men, Gadgets and Calvin take center stages, and Katz is still with the team at this point. That Able Team is the prime mover and shaker in this novel is a treat in and of itself, and the battles were quite exciting when they came, and the setups went nicely.
