Beer For Breakfast - A Case for Cure That's how the brother-in-law of the President of the United States started his day. Beer was his food, his fuel, and his future, if not his finale. His sudsy philosophy immersed him in continuing controversy, embarrassed the White House, and made him a media personality. It also got him some very lucrative consulting jobs for foreign governments. Like the Libyans. They wanted his help in obtaining plutonium..For peaceful purposes, of course..A Holy War against Israel being the furthest thing from their minds. Suddenly good old Bobby-Jack is missing. And the list of suspects seems endless. America's number-one beer drinker is finally muzzled. But by whom? The Bad Guys or the Good Guys? Terrorists or patriots? The Libyans or the Israelis? The Secret Service or the Mafia? The Destroyer?

Nothing really special about this outing for Remo and Chuin. The President's beer-swilling brother-in-law is a riot even though his part is rather small. The boys try to track down the missing man with the usual suspects--Libyans, a domestic terror group, and a rogue spy. Chuin seems to have a fancy for running off to join the Olympics, which was worth a few chuckles, and the finale of the boys wading through henchmen and confronting the mastermind behind the kidnapping was satisfactory.

This was at times a good Remo novel but two huge problems - wicked short with large type and skipping pages for chapters it seemed Murphy took a novelette and expanded it to barely novel length. The second problem - oh so dated. Ok you really have to be very familiar with late 70s politics and the antics of Billy Carter - Jimmy Carter's brother. If you were born after 1980 or too young to recall the Carter administration the reference will not make too much sense. Trust me if Billy Carter had gone missing the first person suspected would have been Jimmy. Warren does get these two perfectly. Overall a fairly standard adventure although Chiun's previous master story does fall flat - usually his historical tales are much better. I also liked the former British spy too and loved how she realized that she was at the end of the game. Her personal history is rather funny. Also the Libyan agents approaching the president's brother is rather funny - they believe he is powerful and all they want is a little nuclear power plant. They also believe rescueing him will give them what they want. One of the weaker novels. If you see it you can finish it in 2 sittings. A little bit over 2.5 hours. Read this and Executioner #81 and should be done both in a day and a morning.
