Mortal Wounds Mack Bolan joins the dirty war against terrorists bringing the jihad to America. But slaughter and sacrifice are just a small dose of something far more monstrous descending upon America -- a plot unleashed by those who have turned their back on their country in a primal quest for power. Allied with a North Korea mastermind who has harnessed the killing power of Iraqi terrorists, this self-proclaimed conquering elite has unleashed phase one of a nightmare conspiracy to become a superpower unto itself. They've hijacked the technology, the personnel, and now they've lit the fuse. The Executioner moves into the apocalyptic cross fire, sending shock waves through the murderous juggernaut unleashed by those sworn to serve and protect . . .

This author frustrates me his titles #104 Devil's Horn, #205 Hell Road and #272 Stealth Striker all of which I rated as 9's are as good as almost anything released in these series but too often I seem to come across titles similar to this one. I found it very hard to understand what was actually going on regarding the plot here which seemed overly complicated but hopefully it will all become clear in the next instalment of the trilogy. Heaps of action as usual with this author very much along the MASSIVE lines where nothing is done by halves that is for sure. Personally I can get by without rivers of blood and piles of body parts, brains and guts splattered everywhere over and over again but if that is your thing you will especially enjoy this read. First instalment of a trilogy maybe the hardest title of the three to write so off we go to the middle title.

Wow. Great book. Dan Schmidt has come through in style. As with Dan's books, the storyline is interesting, and brings to reality the phrases of action-packed, page-turning and edge-of-the-seat writing, which Gold Eagle Marketing is so fond of using. I can't wait to read books 2 and 3.

This was a solid effort put forth by Dan Schmidt, and it's nice to see the aftershocks of the COMCON Wars still rumbling through the Executioner universe. Though there's no mention of COMCON, there's still crooked FEMA goons. The sequence where Mack has to fight his way through a clean-up squad and Iraqi commandos to save the wives and children of the US-based Iraqis was a breathtaking, heartstopping central action piece that was worth the price of admission. It made the final knockout for the book seem a bit of a let down.

I got this at KMart, not realizing that it was part of a trilogy, until I got home. It's a pretty satisfying first book. It lays the foundation well, introduces an ally for Mack (although I predict that he will be killed by the end of the trilogy) and introduces the bad guys pretty well too. If read alone, it will seem disjointed and wierd, but that's because it's part 1 of 3... I must say that I am getting a LITTLE tired of this whole FEMA-overlord-marshall law thing... Hopefully the other two books keep the action up!
