I am rating this book a 7 on my scale because this book has some good points and its share of bad points. First the good points are of course the author's attention to detail. He accurately describes Bolan's role in the book. The action was very suspenseful and kept me going. Unofortunately, alot of the technical terminology was a little over my head. There are not many fiction books that take the time to explain things. I was still unsure after the ending of the story what the whole purpose of the ACTEN chips were supposed to do. I do believe that the author could have take more time in prepatation to explain the purpose of the ACTEN chips. I like the story because it had a different plot than what I am used to. CYBERHUNT has a new twist. Number one Because Mack Bolan is up against an enemy he cannot see or able to know too much about. But, as usual in the book Bolan does what does best and delivers lethal justice to terrorists. I distinctly reme -
I also read REBEL AND HOSTILES and like that book I am going to rate this book EXECUTIVE ACTION low. I am rating the book a 4 because of the gory detail in the book is not like the rest of the books you read about Mack Bolan. One thing that will catch a reader about a book is detail. When detail is used regardless of what is happening, wheter it be dialogue, or descriptive prose is what draws on the readers faculties of imagination. In this book I was drawn in because of the detail, I could visualize every single event taking place from the fights, the conversations, all the way up to talking with the President himself. What mostly displeased me about this book was the gory detail. I am not a fan reading books and visualizing someones brains being hammered out the side of his head with a bullet, or hearing about someone dying with his intestines hanging out of his mid-section. This was definitely not a favorite. The book has a poor selection of of detail, not enough action and like everyone else who commented, a ridiculous ending. This book needs to be written again under a different title and with the appropriate amount of detail, please nothing gory. As usual I always recommend that every book deserves a second chance. Unfortunately I do not believe this book does. I would not read this book again if it were the only Mack Bolan book left. Sorry!!!!! -
I am rating this book a five for the particular reason that it was a bit on the side of just telling a story about the American Militia's, which I like to read about. The author's insight on the American Militia must come from experience in the field, or some kind of prior knowledge. There was more told about how the Militia operates and what they do more than there was the action-packed, soldier side of Mack Bolan. I think it would be safe to say that the author of this book should re-think this one through and rewrite the novel under a different title. If you want to write a story about the American Militia's you would definitely need more action in there. Fictional scenes based on real events like from Ruby Ridge should have been included. Like others who have commented there was too much focus on the FBI's role in the novel than there was on Mack Bolan. It seems to me that the author was using Bolan as superficial agent for the FBI than a soldier conducting an "Everlasting War" In closing, I think all books are worth a second try. I will try to read this book again at a later date.
