Necessary risks. Mack Bolan is searching for suitcase nukes in the backcountry of Pakistan. The deadly weapons are being developed by internal factions determined to vaporize neighboring India. It's a suicide mission- one Bolan takes on with deadly determination. Aiding a group of dissidents committed to stopping a deeply rooted conspiracy that could lead to the annihilation of the Indian subcontinent, Bolan adjusts his angle of attack as a relentless enemy races ahead on their doomsday timetable. But in a part of the world where an international shouting match can turn into mutually assured destruction. all the Executioner needs is for his enemy to make one critical mistake. Just one.

I thought this was an excellent Mike Newton Executioner. It got right down to business, flowed very nicely and the plot was easy to follow. Gunning down as many bad guys as they did at one time was a little much, but, that's what Executioner books are all about!!! I really enjoyed this one.

Ordinary to fair at best. Project X is a plot hatched by a secret group within Pakistan to create minuture nukes in the guise of suitcases etc. with the aim of wiping India off the map. Okay a nuke of the month story. In the prologue we find a female worker within the secret complex developing this technology trying to escape with evidence of the plot but unfortunately she doesn't make it. Well I haven't read any of this guy's stuff for ages but I am glad to read the obligatory female hostage scenerio has been covered before we even enter chapter one. (yeah right!) What follows as has been stated is farfetched fantasy stuff. I think it was 30 plus in the first engagement 40 plus in the second. Okay Mack is the supreme warrior but come on not one of these enemies got a bead on him and took a shot? The finish where he teams up with the Ohm resistance group and the assault on the complex is pretty fair reading. Surprise the female hostage is recovered alive (imagine that?).

Decent book with good characters and not so highflying plot. Actions scenes were well paced. Some what unrealistic in fact that university dissidents taking on Pakistani regulars with superior numbers. Some how I get feeling from the story that it had originally intendet to take place in Iran (from names and such...) but for some reason was changed to take place in Pakistan.

Not a bad read at all. Has the "Bolan Touch",as far as Bolan's personality goes. I agree that Bolan would have had an explosive device waiting on the road, and would have gunned down survivers from a safe distance with good cover. This makes my 11th Gold Eagle Executioner book read. I read 1-15 of the original Executioner books and he rarely had allies involved in combat, and he provided all his own intel, or had it from organized crime investigaters-I think. Long time since I read them. This is a "good read" run of the mill book.

“Nuclear Reaction” is an average Bolan entry where he blows away opponents by the truck-load in Pakistan. It’s another nuke hunt, but thankfully they call it Project X throughout the novel, a nice substitute for a well-worn word. I also enjoyed the Newton usual characterization of Bolan as a paranoid bastard, who would rather walk a couple of miles out of his way just to avoid taking a risk. “Nuclear Reaction” is a novel about pain and sacrifice. Interestingly enough, Bolan is surrounded by three-dimensional characters complete with love triangles and motives. They bare the brunt of the pain and sacrifice of a better future for their country. Shades of the original Star Wars movie. Brother. Sister. Evil empire. Rag-tag rebellion. Against a technological terror. The name of rebel group is Ohm. Why? Because it’s the symbol of scientific resistance. Nicely done.

I agree with "Eh Kay", the book was a bit far fetched at the start in the forest where he lures a big truckload of death into a trap, and wins. That made me close the page and think to myself for a quick seconed. It just wasnt, Bolan. He would usually lay a granade primed or some C4 or Platique on the ground for the trucks to run over. I should say "throw" somthing for the trucks to drive over. Many a time I have come across a Mack Bolan novel, most of the timeits Executioner; and I have put down the book after 50 pages and thought to myself of all the things he is able to do. This book wouldnt let me!!!! Thanks Alot Don Pendleton! =D This book just was making me stick to it. Me being a crazy "24" fan, was reminded of the suitcase bombs and the extremeists that always have a ploy to do some damage to the opposing forces. Overall this book was a top 10 pick of all of them i have read. Great work guys! (#1 being Mack Bolan: Ultimate Stakes* -Of Course!)

A decent entry into the series, nothing too spectacular. My fav character was the scientist who finally builds up the courage to help out the woman he has a crush on, that was some pretty good writing, I really felt for that nerdy guy. Novel takes place over like a two day period, Bolan guns down about 50 soldiers in the first 4 hours , that was pushing it a little, but I did like when he finally teamed up with the local Ohm chapter, and the final assault on the base was pretty classic Bolan stuff.
